Hawk/Handsaw on hiatus
I'm off to Egypt for fieldwork as part of my day job (see picture at top right), so I won't be able to post anything here until mid-November. Thanks for reading, and I hope I'll have some interesting stuff after I get back.

Bon Voyage! I've always enjoyed your "Diary from the field" and hope to enjoy it after this trip, too. Don't fret about the Birmingham job; I've had nightmare interviews like that, too, and the best you can do is learn from it. Something better will come along. Judy (Jolan's friend who was so hoping the Birmingham job was in Alabama... oh well)
This is the blog of Paul Wilson. You can find science- and pseudoscience-related things here, as well as occasional posts on my current research. There is also some stuff about what I do in my spare time (mostly cycling and complaining about politics).
I am a research associate in the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Environmental sciences at the University of Manchester, where I work on the structural geology and tectonics of sedimentary basins.
